Biography
Andries van Dam is the Thomas J. Watson Jr. University Professor of Technology and Education and Professor of Computer Science at Brown University, doing research on computer graphics, hypermedia systems, and post-WIMP user interfaces. In 1967 he co-founded SICGRAPH. He is Fellow of ACM, IEEE, AAAS, and the Computing History Museum, and member of the SIGGRAPH Academy, NAE, and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. His awards include SIGGRAPH's Steven A. Coons Award and the Inaugural SIGGRAPH Distinguished Educator Award. He co-authored nine books, including "Fundamentals of Interactive Computer Graphics" and three editions of "Computer Graphics: Principles and Practice."
