Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer - Openshift Platform!

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Intermediate Software Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the adoption of the OpenShift platform. In this position, you will work closely with our Dev Infrastructure Software and Pipeline Architects, representing our Software Development Group in collaborations with the Systems Team (IT). Your expertise in OpenShift, software development, and collaboration will contribute to the successful integration and adoption of OpenShift within our organization.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Software and Pipeline Architects to define and implement strategies for the adoption of OpenShift within our organization.
Represent the Software Development Group in multi-functional collaborations with the Systems Team (IT), ensuring effective communication, alignment of objectives, and successful integration of OpenShift with existing infrastructure and systems.
Use your software engineering experience to design, implement, and maintain the OpenShift infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
Improve and optimize Gitlab CI/CD pipelines, automating the deployment and release processes to ensure efficient and reliable application delivery.
Provide technical guidance and support to software engineers, helping them effectively use OpenShift and adopt standard processes.
Write and build continuous delivery pipelines to manage and automate the lifecycle of the different platform components.
Stay updated with the evolving features and capabilities of OpenShift, evaluating and recommending new functionalities that align with organizational needs.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with a solid focus on software development
Demonstrated proficiency in Kubernetes, with hands-on experience deploying and handling applications on the platform.
Solid grasp of containerization technologies, such as Docker, and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools, such as Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code principles and experience with related tools, including GitOps, ArgoCD, Ansible, Terraform, or Helm charts.
Proficient in at least one programming language commonly used in software development (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to solve complex technical issues.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with multi-functional teams.

Nice to Have:

CKA Certified Kubernetes Administrator or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration is a plus
Understanding of cloud computing space, specifically Azure
An understanding of VFX and animation pipelines
Experience in cloud/virtual technologies and management - OpenStack, AWS, Azure, VMware, etc.
Experience with building, deploying and handling applications and software on PaaS.
Knowledge, skills and abilities to manage container image repositories in support of Linux Containers.
Knowledge, skills and abilities to deploy OpenShift Container Platform in both public and private cloud.
Knowledge, skills and abilities to engineer and automate application deployment via CI/CD Pipelines using industry standard processes and open source software.
Knowledge, skills and abilities to automate the creation of Platform as a Services (PaaS) infrastructure using industry standard tools such as Ansible and Chef.
Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Zabbix etc
