Walk on Stars: A Grid-free Monte Carlo Method for PDEs With Neumann Boundary Conditions

DescriptionWe generalize the walk on spheres method to solve fundamental PDEs like the Poisson equation with Neumann and mixed boundary conditions. Unlike conventional solvers, our Monte Carlo approach does not require volumetric mesh generation or global solves, enabling local and progressive evaluation, trivial parallelization, and favorable scaling to geometric complexity.
