Huaijin (George) Chen leads the computational imaging team at Vayu Robotics. His team aims to use novel imaging techniques and apparatus to improve the perception of autonomous vehicles. Before Vayu, he was a senior research scientist and manager at SenseBrain Technology, leading R&D projects in AI-powered computational photography on smartphones. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Rice University in 2019, supervised by Ashok Veeraraghaven, where his works are among the first to leverage deep learning alongside physics-based models for computational imaging. He received his B.S. in Imaging Science (Magna Cum Laude) from RIT in 2013.
