Biography
Bernie Roehl has been involved in VR development since the 1990s. He created the first open-source virtual reality software, REND386, for which he won the Meckler award for software. He has written several books and numerous articles on VR, as well as developing an entire course on VR for New Brunswick Community College while teaching at the University of Waterloo. He was a contributor to the VRML standard and the MPEG-4 Humanoid Animation standard. More recently, he has developed VR experiences for a variety of companies in the education and entertainment sectors. He is currently the head of VR development for Catalyst Entertainment Technology, a company that is developing unique location-based VR entertainment experiences.
