Biography
Marcos Novak is Professor and Chair of MAT (the Media Arts and Technology doctoral program at UCSB) and Director of the MAT transLAB, affiliated with the AlloSphere and CNSI. The transLAB explores transmodal worldmaking in XR. He is a transarchitect, artist, and theorist, widely recognized as a pioneer of the study of virtual and extended environments as autonomous architectural spaces, and of algorithmic, generative, and AI/ML approaches to architectural design and media art. From 2000 to the present, he has been a frequent participant at the Venice Biennale and other prominent venues worldwide. He is the originator of THEMAS. https://translab.mat.ucsb.edu/
