Magic Pot (2012): Perception-Based Shape Display Using Visual-Haptic Interaction
Description"Magic Pot" was first shown at SIGGRAPH 2012, and is an interactive system that utilizes the haptic illusion to change the perceived shape of a physical object touched by a bare hand. The system warps space to match the difference in shape between the CG object and the real object, and further adjusts the position and shape of the displayed hand in real time, thereby it renders visual feedback that evokes a cross-modal effect between haptics and vision and can affect the perceived shape. In particular, it can significantly alter the perception of the global shape of an object, such as its convexity, concavity, and size.
