Meta Cookie (2010): Augmented reality-based taste display utilizing multisensory integration

DescriptionMeta Cookie was first shown at SIGGRAPH 2010 and is an augmented-reality based interactive taste presentation system that changes the "flavor" of cookies. The system uses a head-mounted display to superimpose photos of various cookies onto a cookie with a marker that can be recognized by a computer vision, and then adds an aroma to the cookie using an olfactory display. This change in appearance and scent creates a cross-modal perception that alters the taste of the cookie when eaten. The consumers can choose the smells and photos superimposed onto the cookie through interaction, and can eat the cookie of their choice."
