Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate engineer to take on the responsibility of developing tools, workflows, and providing support for our CFX pipeline. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in Houdini's cloth, hair, and feather grooming and simulation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with CFX Heads of Department and lead CFX artists to determine the most effective technical approach for each task. Additionally, you will work alongside other software and pipeline engineers to ensure the timely delivery of version-control tools and workflows to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of CFX simulation techniques and procedural animation technologies. They should be comfortable working with minimal supervision or under the guidance of a Lead Engineer, as our production environment often requires shifting priorities at a faster pace compared to traditional software environments.

Responsibilities:

Develop character effects tools for fur, hair, cloth, feather, and finaling in Houdini.
Setting up and optimizing vellum simulation.
Optimize grooming for faster hairgen and rendering.
Develop workflow for CFX shot setup in Houdini and rendering in Katana.
Work with artist, pipeline teams, senior engineers, leads & architect to:
Resolve issues, bugs and work on new features requests.
Analyze common and chronic issues and evaluate solutions with artists.
Create and maintain artist documentation and training.
Help with Testing, Code review and Quality analysis.
Required skills:

Excellent knowledge of Houdini
Excellent knowledge of Python, Vex and Houdini digital assets (Otls).
Experience with Katana and Houdini API.
Knowledge of C++ and PyQt/PySide is a bonus.
Experience with supporting and developing pipeline tools.
Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
Excellent in working with others in a Team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred skills:

Experience with Hair, Fur, Feather and Cloth.
Experience with Maya API.
Experience with test-driven development workflows.
Degree in Computer Science or similar education.
Understanding of VFX pipelines and experience writing VFX-related tools
