Bridging Virtual to Physical
DescriptionWalt Disney Imagineers combine innovation with storytelling to bring Disney stories, characters, and worlds to life. Come behind the scenes for a dive into how an attraction emerges from the digital design into the physical world.

- How does the virtual process allow for story design, pacing, and the ability to experience an attraction before it’s built?

- What design challenges can be mitigated early to allow for iteration, revisions, and adjustments to enhance the guest experience?

- What cinematic language and learning can be applied to an attraction in its conceptual and production phases to deliver the final experience?

- How can a stylized animated figure come to life?

Perpetual industry pioneers in entertainment, technology and engineering, Walt Disney Imagineers have continuously pushed the envelope to give guests at the Disney Parks, Resorts, and Cruise Lines unparalleled experiences. As these experiences have increased in complexity, the tools and processes to design and build them have equally evolved. Through virtual production toolsets and digital production methodologies, Imagineers can create even more intricate experiences that digitally test and integrate model set geometry, ride simulation, Audio-Animatronics® figure animation, visual media, and audio throughout each phase of production. These processes allow Imagineers to take their experience design to truly the next level as they move toward the future. This presentation will explore aspects of this through the lens of two projects, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
