DescriptionReinventing the Spindle explores traditional textile-making methods in microgravity, sparking a dialogue about the politics of space exploration and questioning whose curiosity has been satisfied and whose knowledge has been marginalized. Building on the historical fact that flax (Linum usitatissimum) was one of the first plants grown in space, the installation features a video re-enactment of the artist's experiments and the first piece of yarn hand-spun in microgravity, drawing attention to the vast amount of untapped knowledge and potential experiments yet to be conducted.
