The MagicBook (2000): A Transitional MR Experience

DescriptionFirst shown at SIGGRAPH in 2000, the MagicBook is a transitional interface that allows users to seamlessly transition along the whole Mixed Reality continuum from the Real World to Augmented Reality and immersive Virtual Reality. A collaborative experience multiple people can see the same content as an AR image superimposed over a real book page, and then fly into the immersive view. Users inside the VR view are represented as virtual avatars and can be seen from a God's eye perspective from those in the AR view. The experience presents a new way to experience Mixed Reality content.
