Food Simulator (2003) and CirculaFloor (2004)
SessionBlasts From the Past
DescriptionFood simulator is a haptic interface that simulates food texture. It was developed in 2003. The mechanical linkage of the device is actuated by a motor and apply force to the teeth. It is designed to fit to the mouth. Biting force of the user is measured by a force sensor attached to the end effecter. The Food Simulator generates force according to the captured force of real food.
CirculaFloor is a locomotion interface that provides sense of walking. It was developed in 2004. It is composed of a group of robotized tiles. Each tile employs holonomic mechanism that achieves omni-directional motion. Circulation of the tiles enables the user to walk in virtual environment while his/her position is maintained. The user can walk in arbitrary direction in virtual environment.
